In the Gospel we see how Jesus was moved by the suffering and anguish of people. He Himself also knew suffering and anguish. Therefore, the sacrament of the anointing of the sick is the sacrament of Jesus' closeness to people's suffering, sorrow and anguish. In the anointing with oil, His power and love is brought into this suffering, and this suffering is placed in the perspective of His victory over suffering and death.
If you are seriously ill, you can receive the sacrament of the sick. This sacrament used to be called "the ministry" or "the Last Oil. People waited with it until just before dying. In the last forty years, this has changed. The anointing of the sick is best received when the sick person actually receives strength from it. Not just to be strengthened for the final journey.
Do you or one of your close family members want to receive this sacrament? Please contact the priests of the parish in time via (06) 45 36 10 04.
