New challenges in Netherlands mission land
Three priests from three continents. The new challenges in the Netherlands as mission land where the majority is now no longer religious.
Our Mission in NL Missionland
In the past, the Netherlands was mostly Christian.
The Catholic Church sent out many priests, brothers and sisters as missionaries. As of 2017, the majority in our country is no longer religious and we cannot do without priests from Asia, Latin America and Africa. There are currently 132 of them out of a total of 450.
The pastoral team of the Joris parish is a striking example of this: the three priests come from three continents: one from Africa (Nigeria), one from Asia (India) and a Dutchman. These three, John Onoja, Arockia Belavendran and René Wilmink, will speak on Friday evening, March 15, about the new challenges in The Netherlands mission land. What does this mean for them and for all Catholics?
